Cherri has been managing my psychiatric medications since 2018 -ish . She's conservative in prescribing medications and is open to considering nutrition, vitamins, exercise and alternative healing modalities in supporting her clients' mental health. I have pre-diabetes and when my anti psychotic medication caused significant weight gain and high blood sugar, I researched newer antipsychotiics and found one with a better metabolic profile. I asked Cherri if I could go on a trial of this new antipsychotic. I lost 12 lbs in 2 months and my fasting blood sugars returned to pre-diabetic levels. It was a trade off as the former antipsychotic addressed more of my symptoms. However, Cherri recognized my autonomy and respected my decision to find a compromise. .

Jimmy is emotionally abusive. Specifically, he gaslights. He would question and challenge my experience of myself, my symptoms, and how I would feel on the medications.

She gives advice without becoming your "life coach" ( which btw I can't stand when therapists do that and act as though you can't think and make decisions for yourself). Cheri remembers what you spoke about in the past and therefore makes one feel she really cares.

The negative about telephone visits is you don’t see what is happening outside the view of the patient. As I respond to questions or explanations, you don’t see the physical reactions that I go through. I have a tremor that worsens progressively during my visit that takes some time to settle into the normal for that time.

I like that she doesn’t push any medication on me she tries hard to help me with solutions before she asks me to try another medication as we discussed on the call. Cheri is always open to hearing my concerns and accommodating my needs. My main issue for seeing her is to find a way to ween off my alprazolam. I've been prescribed this low dose for over 10 years. Antidepressants and all the side effects do not work for me. She has been diligent trying to find one that agrees with me. Long story is she understands what my needs are. She's taking time with me and doesn't make me feel like some addict. Together we will succeed.
